Dating in Orléans, along the royal river

The Loire crosses Orléans from east to west and sets its slow tempo throughout the city. Revamped quays, traditional river boats and elegant bridges: here, water offers an ideal setting to take time to discover each other.

The reinvented quays

From the Quai du Châtelet to the Quai du Fort-Alleaume, the banks of the Loire have been given back to walkers. You pass the traditional boats of the Loire fleet, moored as they were long ago, and the terraces come alive at the first warm rays. Every two years, the Festival de Loire gathers barges and skiffs from all along the river. A stroll hand in hand, with the George-V Bridge in the background, makes you want to prolong the evening.

The Loire by Bike from Orléans

Listed as a UNESCO cultural landscape, the Loire can also be explored by bike. From Orléans, the route runs towards Combleux and its canal, then towards the Île Charlemagne, popular with families in warm weather. Westwards, the châteaux of the Loire already begin to appear. A bike ride for two, picnic in the bag, is a lovely excuse to get to know each other better.

Parks and city breathing spaces

In the centre, Pasteur Park offers a green pause with its pond and flowerbeds. Further on, the Parc Floral de La Source, to the south, delights garden lovers. Between the bridges, pedestrian walkways link the two banks and invite a sunset stroll. On Lyad, members from Orléans share their favourite spots along the river; it is up to you to find someone to wander them with.
